Essas subst\u00e2ncias podem divergir entre si em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 atomicidade (n\u00famero de \u00e1tomos) ou quanto ao arranjo geom\u00e9trico das estruturas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Um exemplo simples desse fen\u00f4meno consiste na alotropia do elemento oxig\u00eanio, que pode dar origem \u00e0s subst\u00e2ncias simples g\u00e1s oxig\u00eanio (O2) e g\u00e1s oz\u00f4nio (O3).
